Re-checked September 2026 against their public pages. SporeStack is one of the few hosts that shares our starting point: no email, no KYC, pay in Monero, rent by the day. It has done that since 2017, which deserves respect. The difference is what sits under the API: most SporeStack machines are DigitalOcean and Vultr droplets bought on your behalf, and the company states plainly that it answers valid US legal requests and requests from the country hosting the server.

Both of us let you walk in without a name. SporeStack does it with a token you fund; we do it with a credential we generate. On signup the two are equivalent. The building behind the door is not: a SporeStack droplet lives on DigitalOcean or Vultr, whose hypervisor and whose legal department are part of your threat model whether or not SporeStack knows who you are. Our Blackbox machines run on hardware we own, with memory the host cannot read.
SporeStack says it responds to valid US legal requests and to requests from the hosting country. That is honest and it is also the point: what a host can hand over is what it holds. We hold no identity and cannot read a Blackbox machine, so a valid order gets an IP, a traffic figure and a power state.
SporeStack bills by days to live, which is elegant. We bill any term from 7 to 365 days at the monthly rate prorated, with a 10% fee under a month. Theirs is more granular; ours is cheaper per month at the same size.
Genuinely no email, an API-first design that scripts well, Bitcoin Cash and USDT, and years of not asking who you are. If you want a droplet in a DigitalOcean region for a few days and do not care who owns the hypervisor, it is a fine choice.

Their own policy says“Logs are retained for 90 days. [...] If you give us the cryptocurrency used, transaction ID, and a subpoena, we can associate that payment with a token, and then show what servers are associated with the token.”
To their credit, both sentences are on their own site. Ninety days of logs and a payment-to-server link on subpoena is the product.
SporeStack's site says: 'We can't guarantee privacy, but we make it easier to stay private than some hosts.' That is a rare and creditable sentence from a hosting company. Hold every provider, including us, to the same standard: ask what they can see and what they will hand over, and prefer the one whose answer is shortest.
At signup they are equal: neither asks for an email or an identity. Below that, SporeStack resells DigitalOcean and Vultr machines whose upstream host has full access to the VM, while our Blackbox line encrypts memory and disk against the host. On what a legal request can yield, we hold less.
